Slithering his way across the floor, the snake morph glanced about the shop. It was quaint and small and smelled of old paper. It had a few couches up front and plently of rows of books. Hopefuly, he'd find something in here. If he had to go one more day with something to read he'd literally just drop dead. Hissing quietly to himself, he finally paused in the mystery section toward the back. Pulling out an interesting title, he decisively read the back, flipping through some of the pages and reading the inside cover...

Completely lost in a book already Tasha headed towards the register to pay for her items, which were two books on strengthening bonds with animals. Which she was very into. Pausing to look out in the street, she saw her pets Ville and Aniu waiting patiently by the door for her and chatting away. She smiled and looked back down at her book...
Tasha wasn't even paying attention when she ran into someone head on. She recoiled back and let out a surprised yelp. She took note that she ran right into a snake anthro, who looked much older than her. He could've been a teacher for all she knew, Way to make an impression... She thought, feeling the skin under her fur grow hot. "Oh! I'm really sorry...I wasn't watching where I was going and--" Tasha stopped herself, she was talking real fast and probably looking like a fool.

The serpent looked up suddenly as he felt something run into him. it was smaller, whatever it was and didn't really call him much alarm. Calmly looking down at the girl, he regarded her with a strange sort of glare. He wasn't angry, more curious than anything. She had said sorry afterall...
"It's alright, no harm done. No need to get so defensive or anything. here let me help you."
bending over swiftly, the snthro picked up one of the girl's books which had fallen from her grasp. He glanced at the tile before handing it back to her.
"Animal bonding? Studying up for school?"

When she bent down to grab her books, she then realized how much bigger the snake was then her. She wasn't too surprised, because she was on the shorter side. Most all anthros were taller than her though. She smiled as the he gave her the book and tucked them both under her arm. As she did her silver braclets made tiny clinking noses as the rubbed up against each other.
"Yeah, it's my first year and I'm hoping I'll do pretty well."

Suddenly curious for unknown reasons, the snake crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back a bit and lifting an eyebrow. It seemed like an impossible angel for one to hold their body at but, seeing as his backbone went all the way to the tip of his tail and he had no legs to obstruct his movement, it was all quite practical. The corners of his scaled mouth turned upward slightly in an interested grin.
"Really? 1st year's the worst, I'll have you know. Second Year Sykes are hell on you guys..."

Haruka had been snoozing quietly on one of the couches up front, a newspaper over face and her arms folded behind her head. But the mention of Second Year Sykes, however subtle, awoke her suddenly, getting her to sit up suddenly. Folded ears perked, she was instantly curious, swinging her legs around and creeping to the back of the store. Peeking around one corner, turquoise gaze landed upon an unmistakable form, one she knew quite well. It was Professor Shamus of Ancient History. She hadn't had him yet but she saw him around a lot. They had talked once before as well... Staying as hidden as possible, the retriever tried to listen in on their conversation. Second Year Sykes were all about tricking others and making fools of people, her kinda thing...

"You're kidding me?" She said with a bit of surprise. Great, She thought with disgust, Just what I need, more people to torment me. Tasha rolled her eyes at the though of the older ones picking on her and such, it'd be her old school all over again. They wouldn't leave her be and now she'd have to go through it all over again.
She crossed her arms over her chest as well, making sure her books wouldn't fall out in the process and she leaned back against one of the many shelves of books.
"Oh, by the way. I'm Natasha..well everyone now a days calls me Tasha."

The snake shook his head slowly yet with slight amusment upon his face. He always found Second Year Sykes to be quite the entertaining event. The things the older ones could come up with, it was absolutely priceless. But what was even better than what the second years could do was what the first years often did in retaliation. Those were some priceless memories. Chuckling to himself, the serpent looked up, glancing out of the corner of his eye at the familiar form hiding behind one of the bookshelves. Sneaky little devil...
" My pleasure Tasha. Call me Shamus. we're not in class so the Professor part is unecessary."
Looking over his shoulder fully this time, the reptile put his hands on his hips this time, glaring at the spot he knew his retriever friend to be.
"And that's the ever nosy Haruka no doubt."

The retriever couldn't help but grin at the professor. For one who didn't have ears, he was very well tuned to his enviornment. She stepped out into the open sheepishly, one handpaw scratching the back of her head. So she had gotten caught. Woopsie... Chuckling nervously, the retriever appraoched the pair slowly, her feathery tail waving back and forth as she walked. In the pocket of her baggy cargo camo pants, what little change she had jingled about softly...
"Hey, I'm not that nosy. You just know how I love the words Second, Year and Sykes placed together..."

Tasha smiled, "Nice to meet you Shamus." So he is a teacher. She thought, I knew it!
Tasha couldn't help but notice that Shamus was looking over his shoulder at something or someone through the bookshelf. She looked herself, and could kind of see a shadowy form. Shamus' voice interrupted her looking. 'And that's the ever nosy Haruka no doubt.' So there was someone there.
They, well she came out from behind a shelf laughing. Great, one of those second years he was talking about...I'm sure we'll get along just great.

Smiling at the second year knowingly, the serpent ventured a glance back at the wolf. She seemed suddenly agitated. Dur, she's just come face to face with a second year student. She should be agitated... especially this one. Haruka was a known trickster about the school and she'd made many an enemy because of it. Shamus just found her hilarious. Ruffling the fur upon her head warmly, he began again.
"Yes, I know. But when you fall alseep in class, it's been said that a bullet train couldn't drag you awake. yet three simple words can bring you running from slumber? Strange strange..."
Once finished messing with the retriever's hair, he gave her a flick on the nose to get her attention and motioned toward Tasha, slithering back a bit so the two could see each other.
"Now, be a good second year and say Hi to Tasha."

Haruka growled lightheartedly as the professor messed with her hair... well, if you could call it hair really. It was just a scruffy fur tuft upon her head, not hair. But it gave her some character so, she put up with it and all the antics that came with having it. Shamus was the only professor she'd ever liked, all the others hated the tricks she pulled and would tell the headmaster in a heartbeat... but he'd caught her on the roof once and had told no one. That made him a cool teacher by her standards.
When said teacher moved away to reveal the first year he had been talking to, the retriever wasn't sure what exactly to say. She could sense the tension between the two, no doubt because of previous conversations. But, she was a friendly furre and first years wuth second year friends were usually spared of Second Year Sykes. Maybe she could help this girl out. She'd be the first one the retriever had seen this year anyhow. Walking forward a few steps, Haruka extended her paw gently in a welcomeing fashion, a grin on her face as always.
"Hey Tasha. Nice to meet you... I'm haruka, if you didn't hear it before."

Tasha smiled at Haruka, she seemed real nice. Not at all like what she pictured these Second Year Sykes to be. "Hey...Nice to meet you too Haruka." She seemed to have a good sense of humor too. And if Shamus liked her then maybe she really wasn't that bad. Because he seemed like a sensable type of guy.
"So, Haruka, since I'm a first year. Tell me, how is the school? Good? Bad? And how bad are these infamous Second Year Sykes anyway?"

Grinning at the pair, the snake seemed quite proud of himself. He didn't exactly like social gatherings or events of any type but it was nice to see young people getting along. Especially one like Haruka. She was always by herself, always in corner alone. It wasn't a healthy way to live, even though Shamus lived like that sometimes... Okay, so sometimes was an understatement. But only meant he knew how bad it was to live that way and boy did he...

Giving the wise serpent a strange glance, the retriever tried to keep her ADD in check for the moment. Shamus was no one to focus on at the moment so, she tried to keep her attention on the wolf morph... but she simply hated thatgrin of his. Made her feel like she was doing something stupid and he was laughing at her. No, he was nothing to pay attention to... wolf... listen... answer... ADD was a bitch...
"Um... the school?"
Pausing to think, she scratched the back of her head again, one eye closed in thought and her tongue sticking out comically. She could be silly at times...
"Ah... I'll have ta say good, but it is a school after all. It can't be that good, ya know? It's fun thought, with the clubs and stuff and Track is pretty awesome when it starts up in the Spring. Classes are sooooooooooo boring though. The only interesting ones are the ones held outside, riding classes. Then things get interesting..."
Looking out toward the windows at the front of the store, the furre gave a smile seeing her little corgi boy still scratching wildly at the window. He hated being away from her and it showed...
"As for the Sykes... well, it can get pretty bad sometimes but they usually only pick on the quiet ones. Get along well with a second year like myself and no one will lay a paw on you .... lest they get their faces torn off..."
