she sighed softly, and looked around. what else was there to do? they knew each other already... she sat back and looked amoung the bushes. watching the small movment of the nights as they scurried by, looking for shelter from the hunters.

Growing bored of simply staring at the skies, the tiger mindlessly asked his friend a question, it sounding like a series of growls and soft chuffs.
Do you know the constallations?
It was mostly to fill the silent gap that had fallen between the two. he hated awkward silences... despite that the silences between them weren't that awkward actually...

she looked up from watching the small mouse scurry around. she shook her head.
No...
she said, looking at him. she had never worried about the stars, but could tell you whatever you wanted to know about the moon's stages... her best was her memory of when the next full moon was...

Grinning as much as his tiger muzzle would allow, the tiger's tail swished through the grass in slight anticipation. It wasn't very often he got to show off his knowledge of the skies.
I used to watch the stars all the time. There's the Big Dipper over there...
Lifting a paw, he was able to point toward the trademark four stars with the handle leading outward.
Then there's Draco the Dragon. That little line of stars right there... And right next to him is Casiopia, the W shape right there. And Adromeda is below her. Downt here, by the horizon...
Letting his paw return to the ground with a slight thud, the tiger continued his gazing almost dreamily.
You know, the ancients used these stars and figures to tell stories...

she watched as he pointed a drew out many shapes amoung the stars. she diodn't know there was so many, she knew of the big dipper and little dipper, but hardly any of the others. she looked at him, kind of amazed.
Wow, that was good. I didn't know half of them... did you study them?

The tiger glanced down at his canine companion for a moment before turning back to the heavens. He had never truly considered literally studying the cosmos but he wouldn't mind doing so. He found it all so fascinating...
Nope. just had nowhere else to look when I was young. The stars seemed to be a good place to start. My mother used to tell us stories about them and how certain ones got their name and such and... Well, that was it...
Glancing down to watch the field mouse dart across the path in a pathetic rodent attempt to get away from the predators, the shifter tried to think of one of the more interesting stories he'd heard...
Like Taurus the Bull. Those stars there... He was once a powerful bull that constantly tormented towns folk and claiming to be as powerful as the gods. Now, that little row of stars down there... That's Orion the hunter. He was hired by Zeus, the king of all gods, to hunt the bull down. They ended up killing each other and continued their hunt to the heavens above. That really bright star right there is Sirius the dog star. It's part of Canis Major, Orion's loyal hunting dog that committed suicide so that he might accompany his master for eternity...

she looked at him then followed his gaze up to the skies. she hadn't ever really looked at stars. then listened to the story. she hadn't ever herd of the stories either. she listened curiously and smiled slightly.
Wow...
she said simply. what else could she say? she knew nothing of the topic, but it interested her so much.
So, is that all you would do? look up at the stars for hours when you were younger?

Smiling himself as he remembered the nights he wasted simply staring above him, the tiger gave the wolf an awkward stare as he thought. He had to remember all the things he used to do... His memory wasn't what it used to be...
No... No, but it was probably the main thing. After my parents died, what else was I gonna do? I had no idea I was a shifter and I was stuck in a cage for the most part...
Looking back to the skies, he had a strange thought that he tried not to distract him. Why were their no well-known Feline constallations?

There was another pause where neither animal made much of a noise. It wasn't even a silence anymore, more like a light break in communication. It felt kind of strange. Usually such pauses felt strange... but this one wasn't. Bringing his gaze back to the Earth, the tiger stood, shuffling his back legs a bit before sitting back down again.
But that's enough about me. What about you? What did you do when you were young?

she never thought silences were awkward. she just got used to them. alot of times she didn't have anything to say. she looked up to him.
I was very active when I was younger. Loved to go play sports and go hiking. Tennis was my favorite.

Looking at her as she spoke, the tiger couldn't help but chuff loudly when she mentioned tennis. think of it as a very enthusiastic "Really?!".
Aw that's friggin' sweet. I happen to be in love with tennis. Best sport ever...
Pausing again to scratch at one black rounded ear, the big cat shook himself before continuing.
We should play some day...

she smiled. she loved tennis, always played.
Wow, I've never met someone who likes tennis.
she said happily. she couldn't believe it. how great this was, she met someone and they had a familiar interest. she smiled again and looked around for a moment, then back at him.
So, do you play any other sports?

Panting again in that feline grin of his, Duka nodded softly.
Well, yeah. If you can call crosscountry a sport... i do only because I know how tough it is but most others don't really think it's a sport.
Snorting loudly, the tiger almost glared of into space. Yeah, like they could run 3 miles in tiny shorts and a sleeveless top in the middle of November...

she smiled softly
I consider it a sport... I could never do it though... I'm a terrible runner.
she admitted, looking at him. she could run fast, but not that well. she was best at relays.
